Not A Flex

 




Not A Flex  People be so quick to scream: “WE GOD’S CHOSEN PEOPLE.”  Cool.  Then accept the whole story.  Not just the glorious sounding parts.  Because according to the New Testament, Christ came to His own people and they rejected Him and had Him killed.  That should be humbling.  But instead people turn “chosen” into a flex. Like being close to God automatically means righteousness, wisdom, or superiority.  Scripture does not paint that picture at all.  The same story people use to boast also contains rebellion, corruption, blindness, rejection, judgment, exile, and denial.  Truth literally stood in front of people and they still rejected Him.  That should make every human nervous.  Because the larger pattern in scripture is consistent: people reject truth constantly.  Religious leaders reject truth. Crowds reject truth. Kingdoms reject truth. Institutions reject truth. Regular people reject truth.  Everybody imagines they would instantly recognize God while the biblical narrative repeatedly shows humans doing the opposite.  That is why the arrogance surrounding “chosen” feels backwards.  People wear “chosen” like jewelry. Scripture presents it like responsibility.  “He came unto his own, and his own received him
